getting a renter's insurance through south coast surety was a breeze. i am a renter in california and needed insurance asap. i had a great experience and was helped by angela. she was awesome and made sure to meet my needs. she explained the policy in full detail and helped me understand everything. i recommend south coast surety because of the great customer service and the quick and easy process. ask for angela if you call in!

i have over 20 years as a contractor. ihave my own general liability insurance so i know a little about insurance. i had the misfortune of renting a property out and having to utilize this company to provide renters insurance for the property. first of all you can't get them on the phone to get any answers. you either have to wait for a callback or leave a message and wait a day or two for them to call you back. i filled out the renters insurance application on their website on 2/9/23. on 2/10/23 i received a message from someone named angela who wanted to 'review' my application for coverage. i returned her call within about an hour. she said she would get back to me. no call back that day. on 2/13/23 i called her again and she said she would call me back within the hour. no call back that day. on 2/14/23 i called again and she finally answered. she told me that i needed to provide her with a copy of the lease agreement. i sent her a copy of the lease agreement within an hour of hanging up with her. on 2/15/23 i had not heard back from angela so i called again and got her voice mail. i left her a message. she did not call me back that day. on 2/16/23 i called again and got her voice mail. i left her another message. she did not call me back that day. on 2/17/23 i called again and finally got her on the phone. she then told me she needed a copy of the property deed and a copy of my declarations page of my general liability policy. she said she would get back to me within the hour. no call back that day. on 2/20/23 i called again and angela answered. i asked her if she had reviewed my policy and she said she did not have the time to get it done yet. i asked her if she would get it done that day and she said she would try. later that day i received an email from angela saying she was able to get coverage for me and could i please make a payment online. however the coverage went into effect as of 2/10/23. since this whole process started on 2/9/23 and i was being diligent about returning phone calls and providing angela with the documents she requested immediately, i don't think it is fair that i am being charged for coverage that i did not have. this is a very poorly run company. if you have choices about who to buy your renters insurance from, i would recommend not using this company. they will waste your time and still not provide you with the coverage you need in a timely manner.
